Bamberg - The German beer capital |
In the Bavarian area of Germany lies Franconia, which is home to the biggest variety of original and individual beer styles.
A really exiting destination here is Bamberg, and not only for beer fans. This beautiful, historical baroque city is built on seven hills like Rome and Edinburgh and boasts of having records of brewing from almost a thousand years ago.
Bamberg is part of world heritage program and is also famous for its Franconian food culture, historic buildings, its stunning cathedral and outstanding museums, one of which is a museum of beer in a monastery.
Bamberg is leading the way as the finest brewing area anywhere on earth. Another small but interesting fact is, that no other city in the world has as many breweries per square mile, per head of population.
